The Department of Agriculture and Agrifood, Ministry of Primary Resources and Tourism, in collaboration with MADGrow Tech, an agricultural technology start up, has embarked on a path towards upgrading the lifestyle of farming communities in Brunei Darussalam. In his speech, the Minister of Primary Resources and Tourism said that the introduction of the modern agricultural technology used in urban farming will hopefully trigger an interest of the local farmers and new entrepreneurs to venture into farming as a viable and self dependent job prospect. This was stated by Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Ali bin Apong, at the Soft Launching of MADGrow Tech yesterday.
Also present were Doctor Awang Haji Abdul Manaf bin Haji Metussin, the Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Primary Resources and Tourism and Awang Wardi bin Haji Mohammad Ali, the Deputy Permanent Secretary for Tourism at the Ministry of Primary Resources and Tourism. MADGrow Tech has set its sights on becoming a major player in agriculture technology in Brunei and under the guidance and support from the Department of Agriculture, under the Ministry of Primary Resources and Tourism. The company also hopes to build on the ‘data-enabled agriculture’ practice, such as the use of environment sensors, mobile computing, wireless communication and drone imaging.
